HEFEI & ANQING, An Hui Province

Miranda was born in AnQing city, in the province of An Hui.


* An Hui is known for the scenic area of HuangShan (Yellow Mountains) in southern Anhui
* an important agricultural trading center and military base in early times
* Generally speaking, a poor province


From Dec 21-28, we will be Hefei, the capital city of An Hui.

Some facts about Hefei:

* capital of Anhui Province in central China, north of the Yangzi River
* Yangzi River divides the province into two parts.
* an important agricultural trading center 2,000 years ago (Western Han period)
* an important military base during the disorders of the Three Kingdoms following the break-up of the Han Empire
* In modern times Hefei has become the industrial, cultural, and scientific center of Anhui Province
* home of the prestigious University of Science and Technology.

Some facts about AnQing:

* geographically complex topography, crossed in the north by the Huaihe River and in the south by the Yangzi River
* Wannan cuisine: dishes are stewed or braised to exact temperatures, and are described as being "greasy but generous in portions." One of the noted dishes is Salted Fresh Trout.
* one of the most important agricultural provinces in China - major staple crops are rice, wheat, beans, maize, sorghum and sweet potatoes.
* also well known for its various craftworks, such as rice paper, ink stone and Chinese ink.
