Our day started with a hearty breafast buffet at the revolving restaurant on the 29th floor of the hotel. At 9am, we met our guide and were taken by van to the Civil Affairs Office. We were early. Miranda arrived with the Asst. Director of the orphanage 15 mins later. She was bundled up in a yellow and orange outfit. She was cheerful until she left the hands of the Asst. Director. She cried for the first hour (almost), stopping only for cheerios from Joshua.
It was a relaxed session at the Civil Affairs office. I was holding Miranda mostly, while Jin was handling paperwork, only interrupting my bonding time for signatures. The staff were very relaxed and understanding. Our short interview lasted only 3 minutes with questions like "Are you satisfied with your child?", "Why did you decide to adopt from China?" and lastly, "Do you promise to take good care of your daughter?".
The paperwork was completed within 2 hours. By then, Miranda had warmed up, but she wanted only to be close to me. She would cry at the sight of Jin, or the camera. (as you will see) She loves to walk, grabbing tightly to my finger. She loves the stairs, although she is not very used to them yet. She loves to explore closed doors.
We returned to the hotel room, and we quickly stripped her of her 3 layers of cloting. We brought her for lunch at the Noodle house in the hotel. We were told she loves porridge. She sat well in her high chair, and very relaxed throughout lunch, even allowing Jin to feed her fish porridge. After her meal, she started smiling and showed us her cheeky personality...
