We are setting some records in getting our post-adoption investigation reports expedited. Barely 2 working days after our interview on Friday last week, our report was finalized and submitted to our adoption lawyers today! Our case worker said that was a record.
Next step: Our lawyer will file for a court hearing date for the adoption order to finalize Miranda's adoption in the Singapore courts. Court dates are usually scheduled 2 weeks out, but we have requested for special consideration for an earlier date.
Once the adoption order is granted, we will proceed to apply for her birth certificate (takes 2 weeks), then another 2 weeks for citizenship papers, before her Singapore passport can be issued 4 weeks later. We have alerted every conceivable contact we have in the series of events, and submitted appeals to get the lengthy process shortened as far as possible.
