WHAT'S IN A NAME?

"Xu Mingjing"

It appears that baby Miranda was named by the orphanage. In her referral report, we are told that Mingjing comes from a Tang Poem that describes the quietness under a shining moon, that breaks forth in exuberance as the sun rises. How poetic! Xu is the surname following the head of the Welfare institute she was taken into.

We've yet to decide if we will keep her name. Initially, we had intended to name her En-yuan, means Grace everlasting. But at 18 months, she must recognise her name already... and wouldn't we be insensitive by changing her name and identity?
